In an abrupt reversal, Knicks officials decided late Thursday not to offer Iverson a contract, putting an end to their brief flirtation, according to a person close to the deliberations.
Although team officials were highly intrigued by Iverson, a four-time scoring champion, they finally decided that he posed too great a risk because of his long history of problems on and off the court.

Another ****ing screwup by the most inept management team in the league.
Time to get rid of semi-senile Walsh and his no-defense coach.
From the NYTimes:
Quote:
James L. Dolan, the Madison Square Garden chairman, was opposed to the move from the start, but had indicated to Walsh that he would not stand in the way if Walsh and D’Antoni were firmly in favor of signing Iverson. When it came time to commit, however, Walsh and D’Antoni decided that Iverson posed too great a risk
No matter what the quote indicates, my bet is that it was Dolan who killed the deal. This is going to blow up in their faces. Knick fans are not going to be happy about losing Iverson.
You know, i think AI to orlando wouldn't be that bad if they dumped him after Jameer returned.
thats exactly what i want, pick him up for 4-6 weeks on the cheap.
maybe a little longer and have jameer come of the bench while he gets back into the swing of things, then bench AI and buy him out
Walsh is an idiot. I don't see how anyone fits into D Antoni's offense more than AI, and gives them a better chance to score up and down the court while creating attention the other team has to respect. There is barely anyone on the roster right now that teams need to worry about. AI is like the perfect player for D Antoni's offense its laughable Walsh would be against it so much, while signing all of these scrubs.
I can't even see how character issues and things like that enter the equation here since they can cut his ass at any time, and are only committing a veterans minimum. They basically have nothing to lose by doing it, and its not like the team isn't already a mess right now.
This is just typical NBA GM stupidity, where any fan can do better. There are so many retarded GM's in the NBA that its amazing how some of them reach such lofty positions with power to control franchises. *cough* Steve Kerr...
You know you are a cancer when the Knicks are concerned about you disrupting their "chemistry".
what chemistry? Anyone watch the Knicks lately and see one iota of chemistry? its so stupid because they have nothing to lose. They aren't even playing Nate Robinson much either, and letting Larry Hughes run the show. I swear the Knicks personnel dept has always been pretty awful given they are the Mecca of basketball a lot of NBA stars would like to play for, and they've never gotten a true superstar since Ewing. They way over-achieved during the Alan Houston, Mason days where they still didn't have a superstar player other than a old Ewing, and the closest since is David Lee now.
They really should've let PDiddy buy the Knicks, i bet they would've made a lot more sensible decisions.
You want to get rid of Walsh because he thinks twice before he does anything. Something that Isiah is incapable of doing. Lmao @ calling me stupid when you're the guy who thinks that Iverson will turn this franchise around. You're literally the dumbest Knicks fan on this board and an embarrassment to New Yorkers everywhere. "Fuck 2010 I want to win now".
