Default Michael Vick's NFL Future

What are some teams that will be interested in him in 2010? Dungy said that the Bills contacted him this year but Vick wanted to go to a more winning situation, could they come calling again?

I went to the Eagles/Chiefs game and didn't see 1 member of PETA there. They've been really quiet all year long and only now have they spoken up again after Mike Vick got the "Courage Award". Would teams still be worried about bringing him in because of outside influences such as PETA?

And also, do you think Vick still has what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL? This doesn't mean he has to be a top 15, top 20 QB. But would you prefer him over guys like Delhomme, Fitzpatrick, Bulger, Quinn, and (insert Oakland QB here)? Does he deserve to be starting over certain rookies (Sanchez, Stafford, Freeman)?

Will he be starting for a team next season and if so, what's the best situation?

I think he does have what it takes to start in this league, but I'm not sure who will take a chance and give him a starting job. The Rams could sign him, imagine Vick paired with Steven Jackson running option plays, that would be nasty. He's only a short term option though, approaching age 30, that's another thing that could turn teams away.

I just can't see him being good in the NFL ever...esp due to the fact that I never thought he was all that great to begin with...

If the Bills made him an offer as a starter, then he should jump ALL OVER THAT...

I find I thard to believe that Vick thinks he can pick and choose here...

does he think the Vikes will start him if Favre leaves of something?...no way

A. Age 30 isn't as big of a deal for an NFL quarterback as it is in other sports or other positions.

B. I don't care what Vick said to Dungy about a "winning situation" I fully expect that if some team was willing to give him a full time starters job he'd take it regardless. Based on what he's been saying this season, he's not happy with his current role, and the team is certainly winning. So if the Bills or anyone else gave him the reigns, he probably would jump all over it.

Vick has been all smiles. The media turned around what he said, he never said he wasn't happy. It wasn't just about a "winning situation" but a team with strong leadership from the front office and coaching. The Bills fired their offensive coordinator in September and then their head coach in November, that look like a team with strong stability? It was smart of him to not take the Bills offer. He would have came directly out of prison, knew he wasn't in shape, knew he was going to have all kinds of rust, and would have been thrown into the spotlight on a 1 year deal. The media attention would have been all over him and if he doesn't perform he likely never gets a chance to start again for another team.

Signing on as a backup he's able to work himself back into shape, the media stays away (you almost forget he's even here), and he hopes to show flashes of his old self here and there so that another team gives him a multi year deal next year. Whether it happens or not who knows, but in a way signing as a backup gave him more security for his future. Could you imagine what the media attention would have been if Vick had been starting every game for a team? And then the attention it would get when that team doesn't perform?

And yeah Carolina would be cool.

He hasn't been all smiles due to being happy with his role. He's been all smiles due to the fact that he's glad he's out of jail and got a second chance in the NFL. There's no doubt in my mind that this deal to the Eagles was a short term move for him and that he did intend to start for his own team within the next year or two. I don't think he was lying when he said he's "more than just the wildcat guy" and wants a chance to show that.

I've been lobbying to bring Vick to Carolina all year, if he comes cheap we'd love to have him down here.
