Default Warriors weekly note: Dec. 1 -- Warriors beating elites

WARRIORS HANGING WITH LEAGUE ELITES: Golden State (9-7 on the season) downed San Antonio 111-102 on Monday (11/27) at ORACLE Arena, marking the Spurs first road loss of the season...San Antonio entered the game with an 11-3 record...The victory came on the heels of a win against the league's top team, the Utah Jazz, 91-78 on Saturday (11/25) at ORACLE Arena...The Jazz entered the game with the league’s best record at 12-1…Golden State played both games minus Baron Davis, Mickael Pietrus and Ike Diogu…Additionally, the Warriors are now 3-0 versus teams that posted 60-plus wins last season (Dallas, Detroit, San Antonio).

PUTTING NUMBERS ON THE BOARD: Golden State has scored 100-or-more points in 11 of its last 12 games…Additionally, the team has topped 110-or-more points in four of its last six contests...Overall this season, the Warriors rank 2nd in the NBA in scoring at 106.7 points per game.

WARRIORS ON TARGET -- LEAGUE'S TOP SHOOTING TEAM: As a team, Golden State has shot 50%-or-better from the field in five of its last eight contests and seven times overall this season...The Warriors made an NBA season-high 53 field goals (53-93, .570%) in a losing effort at Denver (11/24)...Previously, Golden State had connected on 47 field goals vs. Phoenix (11/20) and 45 field goals en route to shooting a season-high 57.7% FG from the field vs. Sacramento (11/16)...Overall, the Warriors are shooting a league-leading 48.6% FG this season compared to last year’s 43.3%, which ranked 28th in NBA.

IT’S A TEAM EFFORT: With a team-high 24 points vs. Utah on 11/25, Matt Barnes became the eighth different Warrior to lead the team in scoring this season.

NELLIE APPROACHING ANOTHER COACHING MILESTONE: Don Nelson is one victory shy of becoming just the second coach in NBA history to win 1,200 games in their coaching career (Lenny Wilkens, 1,332)...Nelson currently owns a career coaching record of 1,199-887 (.575).

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES FOR WARRIORS 20-SOMETHINGS: 20-year-old Andris Biedrins and 21-year-old Monta Ellis have played well beyond their years thus far in 2006-07...Andris Biedrins is averaging 11.1 points, 9.8 rebounds (12th in NBA), 1.4 assists and 2.63 blocks (4th in NBA) in 29.6 minutes per game, while ranking 2nd in the league in field goal percentage (.652)...Meanwhile, Monta Ellis is averaging 18.3 points, 4.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.19 steals in 33.6 minutes, while shooting 48.2% from the field...

ELLIS SHINING AS A STARTER: Monta Ellis has started each of the last 11 games and is averaging 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.18 steals and 36.1 minutes in those contests, while shooting 47.4% (81-171 FG) from the field…During that stretch, he has scored 31 points twice (vs. Seattle on 11/18 and vs. Phoenix on 11/20) and 27 points once (vs. Indiana 11/29).

ANDRIS BECOMING A MAN -- MONSTER THREE-GAME STRETCH LAST WEEK: Over the last 10 games, 20-year-old Andris Biedrins is averaging 13.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.10 blocks in 34.3 minutes..

WELCOME BACK BARON: Baron Davis returned to action last night vs. Indiana after missing four of the previous five games due to a strained right rib muscle…Coming off the bench in his return, Davis nearly logged his sixth career triple-double, finishing with 24 points (12-25 FG), nine rebounds and nine assists to go along with two steals and three blocks in 36 minutes.

DUNLEAVY TO THE RESCUE -- 6TH MAN ROLE SUITING HIM FINE: In 11 games this season coming off the bench as the team’s sixth man, Mike Dunleavy is averaging 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.27 steals in 29.1 minutes, while shooting 51.4% (55-107 FG) from the field...In 15 games overall this season, he is averaging 11.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.19 steals in 28.0 minutes, while shooting 49.0% (74-151 FG).
