Seems like everyone I know who is interested in Basketball has been so impressed by LBJ's last night's performance that I see ppl claiming he is the best defender in NBA now. People whom I heard criticize LBJ at every opportunity are now jumping on his bandwagon. I see them gloating in his KINGLY defensive performance on facebook/twitter and shit. My friend who is a Lebron stan keeps posting vidz and gifs on my wall celebrating Lebron's first ring already

Yea he is playing great and dominating, but seriously best defender in the NBA?
ETA: He believes LBJ is gonna shut down Dirk!!!!!

To the people actually trying to do it: LMFAO

Look at Cleveland's defensive rankings last couple years before this one.

Then look at Miami's defensive rankings this year with only one other legit NBA athlete on the roster.

Then give strong consideration to killing yourself.

There are not many players that defend better than LeBron. What special about LeBron is his versatility. I think he can effectively guard 1 trough 4, even 5.
There are some wing defenders that I'd say are better at guarding the perimeter than LeBron and also some post defenders that I'd preffer over him. The fact that he can guard both, at a high level, makes him a valuable defender and it's the reason some people are calling him the best right now (me not included though).

Miami was already approximately the 7th best defensive team in the league last year without James and without Bosh.

As a matter of fact, Beasley was the second best defender on the Heat roster last season. That got over 25MPG

He was an amazing man-to-man defender last season. Out in the perimeter, and inside in the paint.

Sure he wasnt a outstanding shotblocker, but his effort at guarding his man was great.

He posted a 103 DRtg last season guarding strictly PF

And people say Michael Beasley can't defend the PF position
