Default Could an extended lockout force NBA contraction?

Billy Hunter isn't predicting it, but he's saying it's possible.

He named the SACRAMENTO KINGS as a team that could potentially fall victim in such a scenario.

What do you think?

I definitely think contraction chances improve with a lockout that cancels games until Christmas or more.

I think it should happen anyway. Better now than ever. Now's the perfect times to cut 2 teams.

There's a reason why he didn't said why and how that would happen, it's pure nonsense. And to make it worse is the owners of the teams that he thinks could be contracted that are the hardliners, i guess he should know that by now. And did he said the NBA would never recover from this lockout? lol is that all he got by now, doomsday scenarios.

They should contract the Kings and move the Hornets to Seattle.

That being said, it would take a whole year for them to probably contract. But the fact that the Hornets are owned by the league, makes them a very easy team to contract right now IMO. I could easily see all the owners being like, "why should we all split the costs for this team?" and say "find an owner or contract"... but I'd have to imagine that there'd be an owner or ownership group that would see the Hornets as a team to move to their city and buy them for that reason.

If a team is so financially upside down that contraction is being discussed I would think the lockout might help the team? No salaries going out insurance plans suspended trim all non essential staff to the bones. There's no money coming in but they were losing money when it was coming in so they might be losing less money in a lockout phase and with a new CBA that's more owner friendly they can get back on their feet.

Well yeah that's why so many owners want to miss a whole season because since they lose money running their franchise, having a year off is actually better financially for them.

They really need to contract the Hornets, or give them to Seattle.

I really don't see any need for the Bobcats either. What an awful team.
