Jahlil Okafor makes All-Rookie first team
In 53 games with 48 starts this season, Okafor averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one block per game. He and fellow first-teamer Karl-Anthony Towns became the first NBA rookies to average 17 points, seven rebounds and one block per game since Pau Gasol did so in 2001-02 with the Memphis Grizzlies. Okafor was the first Sixers rookie ever to attain such averages.
Okafor, the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, ranked fifth among rookies in total points (928), despite playing in 19 fewer games than any of the top four rookie scorers. His 11 double-doubles were fourth among first-year players. Okaforís 397 field goals made ranked second only to NBA Rookie of the Year Towns. Okafor, Towns and Denverís Nikola Jokic were the only three qualified rookies to shoot at least 50 percent from the field. Okafor and Charles Barkley (1984-85) are the only two qualified Sixers rookies ever to connect on at least 50 percent of their field goals.
