Default Durant To Start At Shooting Guard?

According to Seattle beat writer Eric Williams, he believes Kevin Durant will start at shooting guard during his rookie season.

Jeff Green, the Sonics' other lottery pick, will start at small forward or be one of the first players off the bench at that position

Sounds about right, it will take a while for him to put on the muscle to play the sf.

Yet people wonder why I think PJ Carlisemo is the worst thing that could happen to Seattle's young players?!

Shooting Guard at 6'11? Is this fair? Well that's what Dirk plays too right? Durant is the black version of Dirk Nowitzki. But I have question marks about his 3pt shooting, what was his % in college ball?

I can definitely see Durant struggling a bit on Defense as he is taking on quicker guards and he hasn't put on that muscle yet.

Other than that, he will do well on offense and put on some shows for the fans.

But seattle won't go anywhere obviously this year.

Durant isn't completely like Nowitzki. And I'm pretty sure he's 6"9.

What a catastrophic mistake. While I don't know exactly what position Durant is, I knos it's not a SG.

Haha, who the hell is this guy going to hold off the dribble, or chase down on triple picks?

I'm telling you, this guy does not have a position in the pros. He either shold have bee 6'11 or 6'7, cause at 6'9', he an obvious tweener.

I feel sorry for you all on his hype train. Yi may be better in the end.

he's pretty much all they have..it woulda been nice to see how he would do if he was mentored by Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis

Durant is listed at 6'11" (though he is probably 6'9", most NBA players are listed 2" taller than what they really are), theres no way he should be at SG. They would be better off putting him at SF where he belongs and where he would probably spend the rest of his NBA carrer...Sonics are better off putting Wally Szczerbiak at SG and leaving Durant at SF

Makes sence. Durant has the makings to be like a Tmac player. He's got the speed, athleticism and shooting to be a very effective 2. And I'd recommend him to be a SG for the rest of his career. He would create a lot of matchup problems. If the Sonics draft Roy Hibbert next summer, the Sonics would have a really big, young line-up

C - Roy Hibbert (7'2)
F - Chris Wilcox (6'10")
F - Jeff Green (6'9")
G - Kevin Durant (6'9")
G - Delonte West (6'4")

Not only that line-up is big, but asside from Hibbert, that line-up is super athletic.

Since when was Durant listed at 6'11?

And whoever said that Durant is a tweener and it's a catastrophic mistake to make him a SG obviously doesn't understand the skill and athleticism Durant has. Durant has Kobe/Tmac-like athleticism and has a jumpshot that will be rashard lewis-like. Even if Durant packs some muscle in the next 2-3 years, Durant would still make a really nice SG

Szczerbiak is a good player but he comes off ass selfish and it didn't seem like he helped any of the young guys in Boston (I watched a lot of Celtics game)...The Sonics aren't going to be good this year no matter what so they might as well start Green and Durant together because I don't think Szcerbiak will help either (though I could be wrong).

Durant was 6"9 and change without shoes and 6"10 and a quarter with shoes, that was from the combine. Maybe he grew a tiny bit, he is only 18 afterall.
