I grew up in the 80s and once Kareem retired.the scoring record became his public basketball identity. Just because they didn't refer to it as longevity yet doesn't mean that's not what it was. And if longevity NEVER mattered, why wasn't Walton higher in the goat list? His short run is considered high peak basketball as well yet im not sure hes...

It's Philly. They're gonna have a stacked roster this year that can match the Celtics in talent. Embiid is a bad matchup for the Celtics.

I don't think that was ever a serious possibility. Luka doesn't have prime Lebrons motor. Hell, he doesn't have current Lebron's motor.

Vice has been doing this since Dark Side of The Ring, which covers pro wrestling, has been doing very well. They have already done football one. Basketball obviously is another good subject to do the same.

You guys are the ones making stuff up - sdot didn't give 1-9 response so I responded thoroughly, and of course he ran so south beach responded with 1-9, which I haven't and generally don't respond to..

How? When was this the case? It wasn't the case in 1980 when Russell was voted as the GOAT. It wasn't the case when Kareem retired. It wasn't the case through the 90s or the 2000s.
I mean sure, there might have been some fans discussing it and maybe even a media mention, but there was never a serious discussion or a dominant narrative that put...

2024 Boston might be the most boring team ever.
Shame they're going to win. Feels like no one cares.
I'm sure a narrative of painting Tatum better than he is will begin.

Three years later at age 26, he's the best playmaker on the team. Don't commit to what a player will be at age 22-23.

They should have won this game at home with KP out for the Cs. But they didn't. The opposing exceptional defense was simply too much for their limited offense. They've dealt with pressure all-game and were never able to pull away for good. They've tried desperately to keep up late in the game but no way they weren't worn out at that point, along...

Saw a stat that said Luka has 8 point total in the fourth quarter through 3 games. Too lazy to check to see if that's true, but if it is, that's nuts.

One in first rd to Heat. One in second rd to Cavs. Swept Pacers in ECF. Now may sweep Mavs in finals. Dominant performance.

Even still, making Parish & McHale guard out on the perimeter, that would favor '24 Boston.
Plus, they'd make Bird play defense and attack him like they're doing to Luka currently.

Luka's been getting blown by all playoffs. Dude will ball out in the first half, then gas out in the second half. Doesn't help that his dumb frustration fouls ended up costing him and his team down the stretch. If he doesn't foul out, maybe they win with him on the floor. Even as a decoy because Kyrie was going nuts during that run.

It kind of looks like him. He has a unique look to the point not sure you can find too many actors who match him exactly.

OKC and Minnesota had guys you didn't have to worry about shooting. Giddy and Rudy specifically. That's why the wolves looked so good with Naz Reid on the floor. Because they had no offensive weak link then. Every lineup Boston plays has 5 position 3 pt spacing. So Dallas defense is stretched thin always.
Even still the Mavs could've won Game 2...

You are taking for granted the talent Boston has. Yes, Wolves could've put Luka in actions with picks, curls and back door cuts. But you need multiple guys on the team that have some bbiq, can read and react to a defense. You need multiple guys that are enough of a threat to shoot to give you the space to make these cuts. You need multiple guys...

This is basic Kidd defense, his entire schemes rely on having 1-2 non-shooters and sagging off them so their defender can help squeeze space defensively from the other 3-4 offensive threats. Boston having 5 offensive threats at once, and he has no idea how to combat it. I know it's regular season, but Boston kicked the Mavs' ass in the RS in both...

I think in game 2 it was more about Boston just missing shots. I do agree that the defense was better than game 1, but that isn't saying much.
Luka's defense is destroying any strategy the Mavs are trying because you simply can't get beat that easily with so little resistance on the perimeter and succeed in the NBA....it is going to result in a...

So then why wasn't it the dominant narrative for Kareem or Kobe? I grew up in the 90s and Kareem wasn't regarded the GOAT due to longevity at all. I don't remember longevity being the dominant narrative during Kobe's run in the late 2000s either.

Fair point, but it doesn't take away from the fact that someone like Allen added depth to their roster. The 2013 Heat, for example, won 66 games. They did so because they were stacked. When we look at the roster, the trio to Wade/LeBron/Bosh > JT/JB/KP. Sure, Jrue/White/Horford is probably a better trio than Chalmers/Allen/Battier, but I still...
