Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Not very smart... but neither is passing up gauranteed millions to finish College. The first 3 year contract in the NBA will make Tyler more than a college degree will make him his entire life (most likely).

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
How can you say he could just walk down the street and get hit by a bus? Everyone walks down the street everyday, everyone knows of those dangers and makes there way not to get hit by a bus. If your jumping frm oa balcony into a small pool, you can't change your jump to make sure you don't risk injury. You have an extremly higher chance of getting injured then being hit by a bus, those two arn't even comparable.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
I just graduaed last year and that was stupid...his friends should have told him it was stupid too. He has too much to lose to do some dumb stuff like that. You can have just as much fun not jumping off of balconies into little pools. College is all about having fun, I rarely went to class but the jumping off a balcony is still dumb and makes him look stupid. As a senior in college, your susposed to be over that stuff by that time.
I dont understand its college let him enjoy himself crowd...are you guys just overcompensating for either not going to college or going to parties like that?
As a senior in college you're supposed to mature? Say you go to a 4 year university immediately after high school, you're the average age of 18 then, so senior year of college you're probably 22. After what probably amounts to less than one year of being able to drink legally, you're supposed to be over stupid stuff? I think you have college and the youth of America highly mistaken there broseph.
And, yes, they are very comparable. There's dangers in everything you can possibly do. You understand the potential consequences and say **** em. Chances are if you ride a bicycle, you're gonna fall off a couple times. Does that mean a child that starts playing basketball should be strictly reprimanded when they ride a bike, cuz what if they fall off and hurt themselves and ruin it all?
People do stupid things. Usually you learn when the potential consequences become the actual consequences, stop acting like a bunch of *****es that never did anything stupid and got yelled at by your parents or teachers or whoever for something you didn't consider to be a big deal.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Geez, have any of you people ever actually been in a fraternity? What Hansbrough is doing there is some pretty tame stuff.
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
It doesn't matter if that is the weakest thing they do in a fraternity. He plays basketball, is the player of the year, and plans on having a future in the NBA, he can't risk doing something stupid like that.
Jay Williams was doing the same thing, wanted to have fun and bought a motorcycle, broke almost every bone in his body and was out forever, he never returned to basketball even though he was sought out to be an amazing player.

Thats how dumb poor people learn. I don't think Tyler wants to be dumb and poor but I could be wrong.

Hmmm, perhaps you're right. I think David Stern should commission ISH to come up with an acceptable list of activities for basketball players. How about Scrabble and solitaire and yoga?

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
I'm all for having fun, especially in college, like I said, it's the best years of your life, but if you are Tyler Hansborough, unfortunatly, you have limitations that other people don't have. Anybody in his situation should know of those restrictions, that's just the way it is, if he didn't play basketball, I would have said "Damn look at this guy! Living life!" but unfortunatly, it's Tyler Hansbrough, he can't do that.

Oh that's right, I forgot, anybody that's rich doesn't have to make mistakes before learning from them.
The majority of you are ****ing idiots.
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Your an idiot if you can't see this is wrong for Tyler Hansbrough, the majority of us are all agreeing that it's wrong, as well as every analyst on television, but because you have an opinion that is different, we are all wrong and you are right?
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Haha someone brought up the argument "there are dangers in everything in life". This is true, but you are supposed to keep your mistakes to a minimum by learning from other people's mistakes and not your own.
It's called calculated risks, and its how you survive in this world.
That's why if that pool is extremely shallow or Tyler jumped off the roof and not the balcony then he would be very dumb. However it seems he survived his jump unscathed, so the risk of injury/death probably wasn't that great.
Everything is magnified because he plays basketball and "he could be throwing away millions of dollars". So yes, in that respect its a "big risk", but everything seems to have turned out fine so what's the big deal? :confusedshrug:
Oh BTW v-unit that is an awesome avatar :oldlol:
but why is Paris Hilton there? Is she a pot-head or something?
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Ahaha thanks, it's actually Nicole Richie because I used to be in love with her, and all of my avatars used to have a picture of her. So this time I just kind of showed her asking for weed basically and Josh Howard blazing it up.
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
it's not that i don't want him to have fun...
but frankly, that's NOT really smart if you want to make your living off playing basketball. there are millions of ways to have fun that don't include DIRECTLY risking an injury.
and anyways, how many people jump off the roof to a child pool? am i really missing a great experience by having never done that:confusedshrug: ?

oh lol, that's cool. the picture goes by kinda fast, it looked like Paris.
Nicole Richie is sexier tho, I always thought Paris was too skinny (Richie looked terrible too when she lost all that weight I hope she doesn't still look like a skeleton)

I'm not saying it wasn't a stupid decision on his part, I'm just saying you're all idiots for criticizing him. Young people make stupid decisions, whether they're about to be millionaires or gonna live in poverty their entire lives.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Hahaha yes, I am the exact same way. She got pregnant and put on weight, shes pretty much back to normal, but we can only tell once she gives birth. When she was thick, she was so sexy, pretty much a huge celebrity crush.
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
it was a judgement call on his part, but one slip and his future career would be done. i'm not saying i've never jumped off a balcony before, but i don't have an athletic career in my future either.

No, not every young person makes stupid decisions, I know what your trying to get at, but that is the wrong idea, it's not like that. Because of that, we arn't idiots for criticizing because he didn't do it with every other kid in college, he did it with his group, but there are tons of people in college who would realize that it's wrong to risk an injury on yourself if your future realizes on your health.

I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for just one athlete to not make a stupid choice. We shouldn't just condone it because "hey, everybody does it."

Difference being that Jay Williams was contractually obligated to stay away from bikes. I don't think Hansbrough's scholarship says it'd be voided if he participated in a fraternity stunt.

Do you think once he makes the NBA that his contract will allow him to jump from balconies into small pools? They will put that restriction there for a reason, because they don't want him to get injured.

Maybe that's exactly why he's doing it. Maybe that's why we all did that stuff in college. You don't really get to do stuff like that in the real world.

But you don't get to do all that stuff in the NBA because it can end your career, he should realize that there are restrictions on his future contract fora reason, because it could end his career. Now he should take that mentality the same way with his present basketball career. There are no contracts in college, so he should set his own rules and realize what is best for him, and whats best for him is not to risk injury on stupid things like this.
I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for just one athlete to not make a stupid choice. We shouldn't just condone it because "hey, everybody does it."
No, but it's unreasonable to hold athletes to an entirely different standard. If you hold yourself to the same standards, and you never make mistakes or stupid decisions that you think may be fun, then you can criticize him all you want. Until then, he's a 21 (?) year old kid, having a good time in college who happens to be a decent basketball player also. He's still allowed to do the same things you and I do, he's still allowed to make mistakes, and most importantly, he's allowed to do whatever the **** he wants to, because it's his life.

Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Not shocking at all; Hanbrough is an odd kat. Did a feature with ESPN that included a bit on how he and his buddies play a game where you smack ping pong balls into each other's chest.
Haha yeah I remember seeing that, he likes getting beat around I guess. Although people are downplaying it, this actually seems like a pretty big fall and could easily break your bones in your leg. Shaun Livingston dislocated his knee by just jumping 2 feet off the ground.
-
Re: Tyler Hansbrough Jumps into Inflated Pool from Balcony with PIC!!
Jumping off a roof is generally stupid
Jumping off a roof into a cheap-looking inflated pool that appears shallow is stupid
Doing the above when your entire career is going to revolve around being physically healthy is even more stupid
That is all
