Check that: The Lakers will send the Rockets its 2012 first-round pick (via Dallas) as part of the deal.

Re: Lakers Have Traded Derek Fisher To The Rockets
Yes we also sent that 2012 First round pick (via dallas)
we acquire a 24 year old PF in Jordan Hill
-
Re: Lakers Have Traded Derek Fisher To The Rockets
Jordan Hill could still turn out to be a good player.

Someone gave a 1st rounder for Derek Fisher? :oldlol:
Lakers won

Wait, I read 1st round pick would travel the other way around...

Lakers are giving the Rockets a First rounder.
Fisher + a 1st for Hill.

Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Wrong. It's Lakers 1st rounder+Fisher for Jordan Hill. This is a pointless move. Fisher was the veteran leader with championship experience. Even as a bench player that's more valuable than a backup to Gasol+Bynum that will never play. He's a capable big with upside.. but far from a game changer.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Sweet, Jordan Hill wasn't developing for us. Paying for a first round pick ain't too bad.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
I was hoping fisher and kobe would retire together in LA after a few years. They came onto the lakers as rookies and grew up together through 5 championships and I wanted to see them retire together.
Best of luck to fish. Although he wasn't great in his last years, he was still a big part of the team. He was the heart and co leader of this team.
Hopefully he will retire and come back to the lakers next season for a limited bench role or even some kind of coaching job.

Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Lakers are messed up for this.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
I'd be pissed as a Lakers fan. This trade was purely to shed cap. You trade your veteran leader for a back up big. Then again sources say Fisher would have made issue of going to the bench.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
I think LA was worried that sending Fisher to to the bench and not playing him could mess up chemistry. I'm glad he's off the team. At this point he's the worst starting PG in the league by far and he has a player option for next year.
Lakers are messed up for this.
Why? Fisher left the team in 2004 as soon as he got an offer for more money and he tried to do the same thing in 2010 but no one wanted him. It's not like he's loyal to the Lakers.

Are you drunk?
Fisher is gone, so now Mike Brown has no excuse to not start Sessions. One point.
Jordan Hill is better than Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy, so he strengthens our bench. Two points.
So, how is it a bad deal?

Lakers gave Dallas' 1st round pick and Houston gave their a 1st round pick to Lakers.

because that guy is an idiot.
the old rule is that you never trade young for old and short for tall.
houston did exactly this

Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Fisher has been dead weight for a while now, he needs to be castrated. Good riddens.

could have the perkins effect though

Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Great move for the Lakers, they no longer will be playing 3 on 5.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
we needed fish's experience in the playoffs

It's Clippersfan, no point reasoning.
Lakers fans will be upset to see a core piece gone. But happy to see his ineffectiveness and contract gone.

Wasn't Jordan Hill drafted 8th overall? Looks like a good trade for the Lakers to me.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Why the hell would you give up a solid young PF and a DP for Fisher when Dragic has shown promise? :facepalm
EDIT: Oh, Houston gets the pick. Good shit!

Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
As a longtime Laker fan, you still gotta have love for D. Fish. But, he's been getting blown by for the last few years now, and Lakers have long ignored the weakness they have at PG. Wish he could've stayed, on the bench as a third string PG at least for leadership purposes, if anything. But like the late great Robin Harris used to say "gotta go....gotta go."

I dont think Houston had given its first. Jordan was a better player in that deal and in between Houston's pick and Dallas pick, Houston's is a lower one.
Why would Houston give away the better player and a better pick? :confusedshrug:
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
The fact of the matter is, we should have seen this coming.
Jim Buss has proven already that he does not value loyalty at all. He has shown no loyalty when he fired all of those veteran laker workers when he took over and now getting rid of fisher to essentially save money.
Its sad but its fact.
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Just wanted Fisher to retire as a Laker.
Hill is underrated though, could be a very good piece.

Don't doubt Mitch's wizardry. :applause:

Again, when has Fisher shown loyalty to LA? He left in 2004 and he tried to leave in 2010 but LA was the only team that offered more than the vet minimum.

Or robbery? :hammerhead:
Anyway this is not a great deal for the Lakers. They lost Dallas 1st round pick which might be around 15-20 in a loaded draft. Draft picks are important for them since they are over the cap for next 2-3 years
But they got away with a steal in Sessions trade. Maybe they cannot win everything
-
Re: 2012 Trade Deadline Deal: Derek Fisher and a first to Houston for Jordan Hill
Damn. That's messed up. I hope Mitch did the right thing and called Fisher beforehand. This trade has "My name is Jim Buss and I'm showing who's the boss" all over it
