The difference is that one was underused (Humphries), and one was, as many would argue, overused (due to Rob Babcock pretty much telling Mitchell to play Hoffa more) and clearly doesn't fit in Toronto's future system of run and gun. Utah is a better place for Hoffa's game, and Toronto is a better place for Humphries' game (any place other than Utah, pretty much).
The point is that improvment for each player is probably a guarantee, because I don't think it could have got any worse for each.
