If Ming and Mcgrady stay healthy they will definately have a better year, if they get get a better supporting cast they will do some serious damage in the playoffs and perhaps beyond. They need to get a lot younger. Wesley, Juwan, Sura & Dikembe are pretty much over the hill. Though i don't really know if Sura is going to seriously ready after the injury!?
They need to get a good player from the draft and trade to/sign some solid role players, to be serious contenders. And I have my doubts in JVG. I think he's too stubborn and unflexable in his coaching. Head seems promising. And rafer played great in the 2.½ of the season. Plus Yao really went crazy after his toe injury. Hopefully tmac wont be so brokebacky in the new season.
