"There are no plans to trade Melo," Andrews said. "Melo will be in a Denver uniform next year. That's the deal. They've they're not entertaining trades for Melo. It's not even in the cards."

Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien, who is Denver's designated trade negotiator, declined comment.

This month, New Jersey Nets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, who drafted Anthony when he was Nuggets GM, expressed interest in trading for Anthony.

In five seasons with Denver, Anthony has become a two-time all-star before the age of 24; his birthday is May 29. This past season, Anthony finished fourth in the NBA with 25.7 points per game and tallied a career-high 7.4 rebounds. But this postseason, he did not rise to the occasion against the talented Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 22.5 points while shooting 36.4 percent, compared to his season average of 49.2.

Anthony is expected to make $13.7 million next year from Denver, and he has four years left on his contract.

Great news for the Nuggets
