It's unconventional for sure, but if Colangelo is no longer a part of the equation, and you don't hire a replacement right away, Embry is absolutely first in line.
Clearly you'd rather have Colangelo or his replacement, but if that can't be found, having somebody who works within the organization with a good track record is not the worst thing in the world.
