Default Lots of work for Rick Adelman to do

The Sporting News reports:

There is plenty of coaching that needs to be done with the Timberwolves. The team’s starting five is likely to include four players who are 24 or younger and have three or fewer years of experience—Kevin Love, Michael Beasley, Ricky Rubio and Wesley Johnson. Rubio will be an NBA rookie, and there’s also the need to bring along No. 2 pick Derrick Williams. Adelman may have had to lean on young players in Houston, but not to the extent he will have to in Minnesota.

That’s why some were surprised he took the Timberwolves job. At age 65, Adelman said this will be his last coaching job and, despite a sterling 945-616 record over the course of his 20 years coaching in the league—only three of those seasons saw him finish below .500—he has never won a championship, and it was believed he would sit out until a title-worthy team came along. Adelman acknowledges that, after he parted ways with Houston, there was contact with the Lakers, but as he put it, “It never got to a point where it was serious.”
