One playoff appearance in 17 years
San Francisco Chronicle:
The Warriors have made the playoffs once in the past 17 seasons and have finished dead last in defense four of the past five years. They made a 10-win improvement last season and still finished in 12th place in the Western Conference, 10 games back of a tie with New Orleans and Memphis for the final two playoff berths.
Entering an offseason in which they knew they had to jump Houston, Phoenix, Utah and one of the conference's playoff teams just to secure the eighth and final postseason spot, the Warriors added only role players to their roster. Meanwhile, the Clippers, who finished 13th in the West, may have leapfrogged the Warriors with a trade for All-Star point guard Chris Paul.
