Yeah, I know that's the obvious answer and hes one of my favorite players for it. I am in pretty good shape but I don't get enough sleep and I think years of abuse in the weight room have taken a toll on my body
Well there you go. Not resting muscles is going to mess you up bigtime. The fibers won't grow back well and when they do, they won't be stronger than before.
Resting muscle groups before using them again and getting enough sleep is #1 when it comes to sports, lifting, anything.
