Default Corey Maggette not just playing out his contract

Detroit News:

"I wasn't surprised at the trade," Maggette said Tuesday morning, days after he was traded for Ben Gordon. "Once you get toward the end of your career, the last year of your contract, things will happen. But I was excited about it. I have an opportunity to excel more if I want to play."

The 32-year old is hoping to extend his career. Even after 13 years in the NBA, he feels he can help any team he suits up for. The Pistons are his sixth and his fourth in as many years.

"It's another chapter for me," Maggette said. "Whatever (coach) Lawrence Frank wants me to do, I need to do it to help this team."
