UFL SCHEDULE RELEASE

Aug. 1, 2012 – The Las Vegas Locomotives begin their quest for a third title in four years on Wednesday, Sept. 19, when they open the United Football League’s season with a home game against the Sacramento Mountain Lions. All UFL games this season will be televised by CBS Sports Network, available in more than 99 million homes, giving the league a national presence.

The defending champion Virginia Destroyers kick off their chase for back-to-back crowns on Friday, Sept. 21., visiting the Omaha Nighthawks.

The Mountain Lions-Locos game on Wednesday is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on CBSSN. The Destroyers and Nighthawks play at 7 p.m. ET on Friday.

“We’re looking forward to opening day and getting back on the field,” said Fassel, beginning his fourth season as the Locos’ coach. “We’ve created a winning tradition in Las Vegas and we want to continue that for our fans and for the new audience we’ll be reaching through CBS Sports Network.”

The UFL’s four teams will play eight games, concluding the regular season on the nights of Wednesday, Nov. 7, and Friday, Nov. 9. The UFL’s fourth championship game will take place on Friday, Nov. 16, at 9 p.m. ET., at a site to be determined.

The Destroyers, coached by Marty Schottenheimer, defeated the Locomotives for the title last November. They will go into Las Vegas for a grudge match on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The Destroyers’ home opener is Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. ET, against the Mountain Lions.

“We’re proud of what we were able to accomplish in 2011, but this is a new season and, in a lot of ways a new league,” Schottenheimer said.

The UFL plays on Wednesday nights and Friday nights except for Week 6, when games shift to Tuesday (Oct. 23, Sacramento-Omaha, 9 p.m. ET) and Thursday (Oct. 25, Las Vegas-Virginia. 6 p.m. ET). All games are televised by CBS Sports Network, all schedule times Eastern
