Default D-Will has a better Nets squad now

Deron Williams: The All-Star is coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, shooting just 40.7 percent while leading the league in turnovers at 3.98 per game. He scored a lot, often in bunches with a 57-point effort against the Bobcats, but that was while sacrificing what Williams does best: being a facilitator. But he’s no longer a victim of a terrible team. With Joe Johnson in his backcourt and a healthy Brook Lopez at center, Williams should return to the efficient pass-first PG that took Utah to the playoffs. The bigger questions are health and leadership. He required a cortisone shot in his ankle last week, and is only hoping the tendinitis doesn’t flare up again. As far as being a leader: he’s fully embraced the role in training camp, following two seasons when he either feuded with the coach (Jerry Sloan in Utah) or threw in the towel (sat out last five games of 2011-12).
