It's the 'best player on the best team' award. Calling it MVP is a smokescreen.

I agree with that part 100%. That's why I never take MVP awards too seriously. They should go back to players voting for MVP, that would be a true reflection of the league. But either way Durant has the stats and record to be MVP.
