2006–07, averaging 2.7 points and 0.9 assists in 8.8 minutes per game, on 31.9% field goal shooting (17.2% from behind the 3-point line), in 31 games played off the bench. Limited playing time, but no different than any other NBA rookie with similar limited minutes that was able to showcase himself 10x better.
Gets traded to the Spurs, then Spanoulis wants released to go back and play for
Panathinaikos due to "family issues."
Was this guy that much of a flop, or is the NBA really that much more harder of a league to play for so much so that even the leading player of Euroleague can't even hang.
It's on a player to player basis. Some Euroleague stars like Scola, Anthony Parker, Prigioni, etc...become solid NBA role players/back-ups. With Spanoulis he was one of those players who believed that since they were a star in Europe they should be respected like stars in the NBA.
