As a fan of a division rival my perspective on the M's is that they are not necessarily about managing the cap or putting a winning product on the field but turning a profit. While that might be true about most teams I believe Seattle's ownership is actually enjoying quite a bit of success in focusing on profit over on field success. With that being said it seems like fan support has been waning in Seattle and the M's owners are looking to get better in the win-loss column for the short term. Having Hernadez as the face while costly will ensure that they have a cornerstone to sell the fans on.
