Default Austin Rivers out 4-6 weeks

Hornets guard Austin Rivers will miss 4-6 weeks after fracturing the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand, the team announced. Rivers was forced to leave New Orleans' loss to the Lakers Wednesday night just before halftime after jamming his hand while going for a steal. X-rays taken after the game revealed the fracture.

Analysis: Rivers rocky rookie campaign just got a bit rockier as he will now be sidelined until sometime in April. That pretty much kills his Fantasy value for the rest of this season, but it's not like he had much to begin with anyway. The 20-year-old entered his latest contest averaging 6.1 points and 2.1 assists over 60 games thus far and he had scored in double figures in just two of his last 37 contests. Since mid-April will likely be the best-case scenario for a possible return, owners in seasonal formats should feel free to cut Rivers loose.
