Default Kyrie Irving out 3-4 weeks, season may be over

Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving is expected to be out for at least the next three to four weeks with a sprained left shoulder he suffered in Sunday's game against Toronto, the Plain Dealer reports. Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said it's possible Irving could miss the remainder of the season, but there's also a slim chance he could return before the team's final game on April 17. Irving was hurt when he collided with Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas on a drive late in the third quarter. He shot the resulting free throws one-handed before walking off the court and heading to the locker room.

Analysis: Throughout the past week, Irving was adamant he would not be shut down the rest of the season with a knee injury that forced him to miss three games between Feb. 26 and March 1. Turns out, a shoulder setback could keep him benched for the conclusion of his second NBA season as the rebuilding Cavaliers have no intentions of risking the long-term health of their franchise player. Irving also missed 11 games earlier this season with a broken finger. But when healthy, he's been sensational and ranks seventh in the league with 23.0 points per game on 46.6 percent shooting. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status while Shaun Livingston is expected to handle the point in his absence. He's worth reserving in all formats until the Cavs make a determination on his return.
