You know scoring has inflated but most of that discussion is around superstars in different eras. It affects other guys too. 24ppg is enough for an all star but Jamal only does that during the playoffs doesn’t matter for the all star game. Jamal was 17th in scoring in just the west last year, 21ppg is no longer good enough to make the all star...

Alright. Edwards had his moment. Now it's Gobert time for the rest of the playoffs.

Yes, what a coincidence.
Now let's pretend that exact situation happened today. What would the narrative be?

Gobert went to the line more than mitchell. Hes one of the most efficient players ever. He can pass out of the roll. Motchell played iso and no d. Good luck with that!

Sure. To a different extent, but obviously yes. But I never said otherwise. Teams win and lose games. Individual accolades are absolutely overrated.

To be fair, Motown itself is just an earlier version of that same concept. All major labels are really. Doesnt mean the songs arent good.
You cant tell me this cut from the short lived Louis Price era aint a gem!

You get excused when you have a team with just role players. Add on when the role guys and hakeem improved they won a title and it’s one of the few times in history a guy won with no co star

i'm not asking about his general improvement, i know he's improved over the years, but we are discussing the performance of last night in this thread to assign the proper amount of culpability. his lack of defense had a direct impact as it allowed the timberwolves to decimate the 20 point deficit and come ahead. i concur, last season they were a...

The only thing haters hate as much as the object of their hatred is context. It is Jokic's fault of he played badly and his bad play leads to the loss. But every player in the losing side did not necessarily play badly, something even a casual fan like myself knows. If he did not play badly then what he is "guilty" of is not having done enough...

You're making an related point. All that says is Gobert is a floor raiser. Every title winning team's foundation is built on defense. Without looking up the stats you'd likely count the championship winners, and runner ups in one hand over the last 30 years who didn't have a top 15 defense.
But ultimately when defenses have multiple games to...

Interesting.
Why are there so many low IQ people on ISH who cherry pick the good parts of Hakeem's resume to put him top 10, but for today's players they include all the shortcomings when evaluating a guy?

I saw almost every game he played the last 4-5 years. I've seen him play more than you have, I think. So I'm aware of his limitations. You asked a 'serious' question to which I gave an honest answer. He became a lot better on defense in the past 2 years. Still a tad below average individual defender but with a very good understanding of team...

His team was bad. Also bit overrated by this board. He’s easily the worst playmaker among guys in the top 15. He’s just a really good shotmaker but those guys don’t elevate your offense that much unless they’re also floor spacers

'92 missed the playoffs.
^ That was age 25-29. In a league with far less total talent than today. Three straight first round bounces, and a missed playoffs. In his prime.
And the same idiots who destroy players today for playoff results have the nerve to put Hakeem in...

I probably think of of him as a better defender than you do (all things considered I think he is average+) but it is besides the point. Had he kept up what he was able to do in the 1st half, would've resulted in a win. That was realistic to expect. So in this particular case, his rebounding was missed a lot more. I had some problems with his play...

As for making Jokic better;
It’s all about physical fitness and wing skills.
Much more training for 3pt shooting, and ball handling and gathering on drives.
Along with more intense strength training, higher protein lower carb alcohol free diet, etc

For most of the year (and the past few years), if he had tried to do what you are asking, he would be spending a lot of time sitting in foul trouble. It was just too easy for drivers to throw their bodies or hands into someone and get a cheap foul call on a contest. Maybe not so much since the all star break. Jokic simply doesn’t have the...
