ClutchPoints: “When Rudy hit the turnaround, I was like ‘ yeah, we probably got ‘em’… I know that’d kill you. That’d kill your whole everything.” Anthony Edwards on Rudy Gobert’s fadeaway over Nikola Jokic 😅 (via @WolvesClips) pic.twitter.com/TBFNT6BAEP

“I think when Rudy hit the turnaround, I was like, ‘Yeah, we probably got them,'” Edwards said when asked when he truly felt momentum had turned in Minnesota’s favor. “Big shoutout to Big Ru, hit the turnaround on their a–.” – via ESPN

That's not fair Jordan would have beaten a defending champion at 22 if he wasn't injured for that season. And after that what did he do against the defending champions....aside from getting swept.

I think any criteria is arbitrary including MVP's...however if you are going to rank Jokic as a top five center you have to figure out a way to come to terms with his lack of post season success.

I don't think anyone other than maybe Manny would argue Simmons over Tatum at this point but feel free to laugh at hateraid.

There is no way that's true atm. Not just on form either, Edwards might be a better player period. He keeps getting better also. Luka keeps getting fatter.

Judging based on Conference Finals is fairer than NBA Finals but still is arbitrary. It's hugely biased towards the players lucky enough to 1) have a strong supporting cast and 2) play in a weak conference.

Okay I brought this up in another thread and I think it's important to bring up here. If you make the NBA/Conference finals that's a metric of greatness, that tells me that you've made a title run you might not be successful but it's something that we can go back throughout the years and look at players and say okay this is when they came close....

I mean Lebron did kinda renew a culture of respect for coaches, altho he’s kind of going it alone in that regard. But he’s such an incredibly revered figure it feels like whatever he does, is reflected in the era as a whole.

I wonder what the best way to measure coach empowerment vs. player empowerment over the eras? Magic got his coach fired in the early '80s if I recall correctly. I'm sure there were definitely some player mutinies and shenanigans back in the day. But it definitely felt like players became more powerful and therefore more willing to get away with...

Coaches are the scapegoats for ass-coverin' front-office executives and bratty star players. Hard to really coach a team under these circumstances.
Things were better pre '90s on this front. Before the commercial explosion off the work of Magic, Bird, and MJ. When the expansion teams came in and young guys started getting huge contracts. Guys...

Theyre obviously connected in the fact it was Carlisle who stepped down from the Mavs a few years ago and endorsed Kidd as his replacement, who was ultimately hired.
But also, both coaches had “exposés” written about them after previous departures (Rick from Dallas, Kidd from Milwaukee) that quoted some players as saying theyd created something...

I stand corrected, from what I just looked up it sounds like Kleber is actually making best case scenario progress. Kidd says the possibility of him returning this series does reasonably exist, tho still far from a certainty.
I really hope so, cuz I think he gives them an interesting extra dimension that could be quite useful this series.

This is actually the series I think the Mavs really miss Kleber.
They can play some big defensive lineups with him at the four without losing spacing. Hes got the size and quickness to guard guys like KAT and Reid. But it sounds like a near-zero chance he’ll be back this season.
Im not saying it makes a huge difference, but I do think it...

Nicola Jokic - Unselfish, better team player.
Devin Booker - it’s close. I think Booker needs less to be the man.
Luka Doncic - Availability
Jayson Tatum - Available, can shoot
Trae Young or Lamelo Ball - pass
D'Aaron Fox - team player, clutch
DeAndre Ayton or John Collins - pass
Ja Morant or Anthony Edwards - Ant. Stronger, less likely...

I'm taking him easily over half of the guys you posted. Cp3/Nash didn't score enough, Wade/T-Mac/Kawhi had short primes and fell off as soon as injuries creeped up, Big O & Jerry West were great for their era but cmon, Shaq is one-dimensional, Dirk is like a lesser version of KD, Harden is a massive choker with a shaky jumper who relies on FTs.
