Would you have made this trade at the conclusion of last season?
 
Kings give- Ron Artest and Brad Miller
Kings get- Tayshaun Prince, Jason Maxiell, and Antonio McDyess

Pistons give- Tayshaun Prince, Jason Maxiell, and Antonio McDyess
Pistons get- Ron Artest and Brad Miller

Yes... considering that Ron Artest would be out the following year so basically I'm giving Brad for Tayshaun Prince, Jason Maxiell, and Antonio McDyess. Steal for the Kings if you ask me.

It’s one last push for the Pistons. The situation was stagnant. Three consecutive Eastern Conference Finals without a result. Something had to be done (dealing Billups was wrong and reactive). Rasheed Wallace and Ron Artest's contracts would have been accessed after their year together. This trade would have given Detroit the following starting five for this season-

PG- Chauncey Billups
SG- Richard Hamilton
SF- Ron Artest
PF- Rasheed Wallace
C- Brad Miller

That looks good to me. That side would scare the crap out of just about every team in the league.

It’s a serious move for the Pistons and it signals their intention to part with mediocrity and not be afraid to shake things up. You're right about the Kings too. A very good player in Tayshaun Prince falls in their lap to make this possible.
