My Mock Offseason [Updated]
Starting off with free agency:
The Thunder don't offer a new contract to: Damien Wilkins Malik Rose Robert Swift Desmond Mason Thunder Sign: Brevin Knight: A PG with 11 years of experience. Hopefully he becomes a mentor to our young PGs. Only sign him for one year. Charlie Villanueva: ![]() I'm a big fan of this guy. He is a restricted free agent but hopefully we would be able to make an offer that Milwaukee can't match. This is guy can do a lot of things. He plays defense, he can finish, he can shoot. |
Re: My Mock Offseason
With the 3rd Pick in the 2009 NBA draft the Oklahoma City Thunder select:
James Harden SG, Arizona State ![]() Thabeet and Griffin will be off the board and Rubio dosen't want to play for our team. We grab Harden here which I think is a great pick. This is the shooter and smart player the Thunder have been looking for. His defense is average and I like the way he passes. He is also great in transition which is where I see out team doing a lot in the future. Another thing I like about this guy is that I don't think he is a star, he is the perfect player to compliment your star. Stats With the 25th Pick in the 2009 NBA draft the Oklahoma City Thudner select: Sam Young SF, Pitt ![]() This guy will be a great NBA defender. He has pretty good range. Hopefully becomes like James Posey. Stats TRADE: We trade Earl Watson and for the Pistons 14th pick in the second round. With the 14th pick in the 2nd round of the 2009 NBA draft the Oklahoma City Thunder Select: AJ Price, PG UCONN ![]() A good point guard who can really shoot 3's. Just what the Thudner need. If we could get him here it would be a steal. |

Re: My Mock Offseason
The final roster for the 2009-10 season would look like this:
Serge Ibaka comes to the NBA after playing in Spain last year. He was our first round #24 pick in the 2008 draft Westbrook/Livingston/Price Harden/Selfolsha/Weaver Durant/Young Villanueva/Green/White Kristic/Ibaka/Collison Once the Thunder can get a good center I'd say to core of their team would be complete. The thing I like most about this line-up is the versatility. We could go with a line-up of 4 shooters along the perimeter and the center in the middle [Like the Magic]. PG-Price SG-Harden SF-Durant PF-Green C-Ibaka We could go with a fast break line-up [Like the Suns] PG-Westbrook or Livingston SG-Durant or Harden SF- Young PF- Villanueva C- Ibaka A half court offense [Like the Cavs] PG- Westbrook SG-Harden SF-Durant PF-Villanueva C-Kristic A defensive line-up PG-Westbrook SG-Sefolosha SF-Young PF-Villanueva C-Ibaka |
Re: My Mock Offseason
If the Thunder got Rubio or Blake I'd be SO happy. With Rubio, Westbrook can move to the 2 spot and thabo could be our 6th man.

They will probably buy out Chucky and you can plug Livingston in to that spot... |

I'm don't know a few of the undrafted players you mentioned. If I was Presti, this is what I would do: Players to get rid of: Atkins, Rose, Mason, Swift, Wilkins Trade D.J. White, Earl Watson, and our 3rd to 5th overall pick to Golden State, for Turiaf, Azuibuke, and their overall 7th pick (Jennings, DeRozan, or Curry). This is a likely trade since they would get a better choice out of this draft, some cap space for the summer of 2010, and a player with potential with White. This trade will give the Thunder the shot blocking defensive player that they cannot get in the draft, a good perimeter shooter SG, and a chance to improve our depth at the point. Let's say we get Jennings. For the 25th pick draft Jarvis Varnado. He is a bit risky, but he is an athletic 6'9 PF with a 7'4 wingspan that averages well over 4 blocks per game. Ibaka is more of a PF, and we are pretty deep at the 4 already. Depending on how Ibaka does during the Summer League, the Thunder should offer him a contract. I can see Ibaka and Varnado both spending a little time in the d-league. Sign either Marcin Gortat, Chris Andersen, or Joel Anthony. Let say Gortat agrees to an offer that Orlando can't match. This is how the 09-10 Thunder roster would look: Westbrook / Livingston / Jennings (Weaver) Sefalosha / Azuibuke / Weaver (Westbrook / Livingston) Durant (Green / Sefalosha) Green / Turiaf / Collison / Varnado / Ibaka Krstic / Gortat (Turiaf / Collison) |
Re: My Mock Offseason
It's nice to see Gortat getting a lot of credit finally, but I'm afraid for you guys that he's going to be kept by us. :)

Re: My Mock Offseason
Maybe. The Magic have a lot of money tied up with their other players. If another team can't sign him, I bet someone will make him really expensive for Orlando.
Oh yeah, Varnado backed out of the draft so there goes my 25th pick. |

Also, Tyronn Lue's $2.2 million and Anthony Johnson's $2 million come off the books this offseason as well. |

Re: My Mock Offseason
i like the pick of sam young ... he may only be 6'6 but he is a good defender and can shoot the lights out.. he could be a steal in this years draft. and i think westbrook and Kd can open space for him. sam young is automatic .. should really benefit playing along kd and westbrook...
3rd pick .. harden would be smart decision.. like what they say .. he may not turn out to be an all start but he wont be a scrub... so safe pick there.. ;) goodluck |
