Who will have the better career: Thabeet or Blair
I'm still shocked to see how a guy like Blair can get drafted so low and Thabeet so high. Blair will be the better player. Book it.

Re: Who will have the better career: Thabeet or Blair
I really want Blair to do well, since I'm a huge Blair fan, but Thabeet is on the team I support and therefore I want him to do well, so that he can help the team, rather than be a waster of talent.
I hope they both have solid careers. If Thabeet didn't land in Memphis, I don't think it would be possible for me to care less about his career, but since he's a Grizzly, I somewhat care now. I think Blair will have the better career though. The guy works harder than anyone and dropping that far in the draft is only going to make him work much harder and show every team that passed him on him (Grizzlies done it twice), what they could have had. |

If Thabeet can develope an offensive game he can be very good.

Blair has been playing ball for Years. hes an ok back up in the nba when its all said and done. i dont think he will be a star.
Thabeet just started like 2 years ago. Thabeet will excel do to work ethic if at all. either way he wont have to have a strong offensive game to keep a spot in this league. as long as he learns position defense. grabs rebounds. and blocks a couple shots a game he will atleast have a career like motumbo. and that was a good career. if he can get you 10ppg 10rpg and 2.5bpg and make people take bad shots in the lane. humm... can Sac have him. lol. And that is at the least. |
Re: Who will have the better career: Thabeet or Blair
Thabeet for his defense. If he reaches that Mutombo defensive potential, he won't need too much offensive development to be a true force. 10-12 ppg is all you can expect.

50/50 chance that Blair won't be in the NBA 5 years from now, so Thabeet. Being overweight with bad knees is a lethal combination.

Re: Who will have the better career: Thabeet or Blair
I f*cking hate Heisley for his to decision to pass on Blair, not once, but 2 f*cking times.
We needed toughness and rebounding, Heisley knew this, so he goes and drafts Thabeet, a f*cking oaf who is as soft as wet toilet paper and was only getting boards in college because he was so much taller than everyone else (he doesn't have that luxury in the NBA) and then he passes on possibly the best rebounder in the draft. |
Re: Who will have the better career: Thabeet or Blair
Wowee, we are jumping to conclusions in this thread.
Facts: 1. Thabeet was drafted as a project centre. He is 7'2 and 270 pounds. He is athletic and has a great work ethic. So logically within 3 seasons he will be the Grizzlies starting centre, and will average Mutombo like numbers. 2. Dejuan Blair has no ACL's. He had surgery on both in High school, and over time they have diminished to nothing. This leaves him at very high risk of knee injury, and when you add the fact he carries alot of weight it is unlikely he lasts more than 4-5 seasons. Thabeet should be playing 20 mins every contest. The more he plays the quicker he will get more aggressive and become more effective. |
