Bucks decline option on Joe Alexander

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced today that the team will not exercise the third year team option on the Rookie Scale Contract of forward Joe Alexander (6-8, 230). “It was a difficult decision not to pick up Joe Alexander’s option,” said Hammond. “Joe has missed valuable on-court development opportunities due to injury during his first two training camps, and this year he will miss almost the first three months of the season with his hamstring injury. This happened last week.

Editor's response: No, the news came out last week that it was going to happen. It actually just happened today.

He's been the only guy in the top 10 pick from the 2008 draft to not show anything so far in the NBA. Even Gallinari is showing some good signs early with the Knicks.

I hope he gets healthy and starts living up to his potential.

Good. Could care less about Alexander.

Wasted pick without question......we missed a golden opportunity on other players in selecting Alexander. It happens; for that screw-up we were rewarded this year with probably the best pick in the lottery in Jennings. This guy will be a star without a doubt. In my book Hammond redeemed himself when a bunch of people said he was crazy for taking Jennings. At least he knows he screwed up and is not offering Alexander an extension.
