Raja Bell opts for surgery instead of playing for GS

San Francisco Chronicle reports:

Newly-acquired Raja Bell told The Chronicle on Tuesday that he will have wrist surgery, a decision that adds to the Warriors' injury woes and could cost the guard the rest of the season.

Bell, who was picked up from Charlotte in the Stephen Jackson trade Monday, will go back east for surgery to repair a partially torn ligament in his left wrist. He'll miss four or five weeks if the wrist is in decent shape and probably the rest of the season if screws are needed for the repair.

"I'm going into it, assuming it will be a big surgery," Bell said. "If I wake up and it's not, it's icing on the cake. I'm prepared for the worst-case scenario, and I'll go from there.

Bell could join Kelenna Azubuike (knee) and Brandan Wright (shoulder), who have been lost for the season. Coach Don Nelson said Ronny Turiaf (knee) is further away from playing than Andris Biedrins (back/groin), who won't be re-evaluated until Monday.

last night on NBA TV they were saying GS only did the deal with Charlotte b/c they specifically wanted Bell from them.

Bell played for Nellie in Dallas as well.

Who the hell is going to play for that team? By my count they have 7 healthy players right now:

Moore
Randolph/Radmanovic
Maggette
Morrow
Ellis/Curry

Am I missing anybody?

EDIT - Just read the rest of the article. I was right, they only have 7 healthy players.

This is a good thing for the Warriors - one less wing asking for minutes.

One less locker room problem to do deal with.

The physical must have been done already. You can't really take back the trade now that SJax has already started for the Bobcats?

Charlotte made out like bandits in this trade. They now have a player that puts up 20/5/4 when motivated and Charlotte is basically only 1 player from making a playoff run. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse for Golden State.
