Celtics have waived Rasheed Wallace

Rather than trying to trade his contract, the Celtics have waived him (a buyout of some sort). And Sheed is now expected to retire:

The Boston Celtics announced today that they have waived forward/center Rasheed Wallace after coming to a mutual agreement following which Wallace plans to retire.

Couldn't find anything for his lucrative *expiring* contract?

maybe sheed was looking for too high a buyout on the contract for anyone to take it on

Re: Celtics have waived Rasheed Wallace

Portland and Detroit probably were asked if they would be interested so he could retire as a player .... but I am sure Ainge discussed it with Sheed and agreed on these terms ... so Sheed retires as a Celtic.

end of story

Instead of think about what sheed could've been, I'll remember him as what he wanted to be. Truly one of the great individuals to ever lace them up for the association.

I'm still pretty confused by this.

Bye bye Rasheed but I think Boston could have handled this a little better.
