Cleveland - OKC -----trade idea

Would it make sense to trade Westbrook and pick 24 to Cleveland for Picks 1 and 4 in the draft?

The Thunder could fill their need for a pass first point guard in Irving and could also fill the need for a low post scorer by taking Kanter.

Cleveland gets a legitimate young all-star who is 6 years from entering his prime to lead the franchise. Westbrook also gets the chance to be top dog on the team. I'm sure the Cavs could trade Ramon Sessions to open up playing time and Davis and Westbrook could play together, due to both being able to guard some shooting guards.

The only problem is, the Thunder probably don't want to get younger.

PG: Maynor/ Irving/ Ivey
SG: Sefolosha/ Harden
SF: Durant/ Cook?
PF: Ibaka/ Collison
CT: Perkins/ Kanter/ Aldrich

What happens with BJ Mullens? Is he a part of the team's future?

I wouldn't go for this trade from OKC's point. Westbrook has all the tools to be a top 3 PG on both sides of the court. I think the deep playoff experience will help him develop better ballIQ or even move to SG where he could focus on scoring with Harden as PG.

Neither team would do this.

It would be a big gamble from OKC point of view, but I don't think Westbrook/Durant can win a title as 1A 1B-- Make Durant the clear centerpiece, then add complimentary players around him.

From the youtube I've watched, Kanter and Irving could potentially be IDEAL complimentary players. I say do it. Pull the trigger the way Westbrook does 30 times a game.

Agreed. That would be stupid by both teams.

Why would Cleveland do this again? This trade doesn't make sense for them. Maybe if it was just for pick 4, but not #1. I'd rather see the Cavs trade the number 1&4 for that terrible package from the jazz that included Millsap.

You think the Thunder is the team that might not do it? LOL

Cleveland would be fools not to trade the 1# pick for Westbrook, this draft is awful this year.

Cleveland would be foolish to trade for Chuckbrook. No poor draft is worse than having a massive chucker on your team. It doesn't matter this trade doesn't have a chance thank god. That would be an utter disaster for us.

They get an all-star pg, over an unproven younger pg?

I'd rather have Irving bust and our team pick top 5 again next year then have Westbrook come in and get us 35 wins and have us pick 12+. It's not that I don't like Westbrook, but he is too good for a rebuilding team.

If they could do this trade, they could then use their huge trade exception to take on Andre Igoudala.

Baron Davis could be traded for Richard Hamilton. Both have 3 years remaining, and the Pistons fill a need at point guard, allowing Stuckey to play his natural position.

PG: Westbrook/ Sessions
SG: Hamilton/ Parker
SF: Igoudala/ Eyenga
PF: Hickson/ Jamison
CT: Varejao/

Looks like a huge improvement to me, a few small pick-ups and they could be back in the playoffs.

I can't believe some people don't like this for OKC. It's debatable for Cleveland, but not for Oklahoma.

Yes it is. I'm not sold on Irving, and he certainly won't come right in and do 22/8 with all NBA level defense right away so it'd be a downgrade there. Unless he has to be involved in something to facilitate like DH12 (and he'd have to sign the extension first), I am just not behind trading Westbrook for anyone other than CP3, Rose, or DWill, all of which are pipe dreams.

You have a 22 y/o old all star still in his rookie contract, no way you get fair value back.

If we like someone in the draft lottery, Minnesota is also a good look to trade their pick so we could talk to them

don't like it westrbrook has all the tools and the thunder don't need to gamble away a star pg for 2 (relattive) unknowns
