What do you think player "guarantees" are worth, generally?

Also, do you agree or disagree that the Lakers remain a favorite to win it all?

Well they got swept and they are just older this year, don't see a reason for them to be favourites.

He may be right, but I dont know if he realizes that Phil Jackson wont be around this year. I'm going to love to see how guys like Kobe, Artest, Odom, & Bynum react to Mike Brown when the going gets tough.

Phil's respect came from players knowing he knows what it takes to win and believing what he was getting across to them. In the final 5 seconds, Mike Brown is going to need Kuester to draw up an isolation for Kobe from 25 feet out.

Guarantees for events which can't be guaranteed are always worthless, but I like players to be confident.

And yes the Lakers are still contenders no question. The teams as they are right now, I'd rank the Lakers as the second team in the west and probably third in the NBA overall.

He also guaranteed via tweeter that he would run around naked if the Mavs win the title.

Easy to say that when you're arguably the 5th best guy on a stacked team, and insane.

If Kobe said this I'd be more inclined to believe him.

If anything, its a safe GUARANTEE that the same team that went to the finals 3/4 years is motivated. If the team is motivated and playing hard, I don't see who can stop them.

This fool doesn't even have job security with the Lakers. I wouldn't be making lofty predictions when you're one of three guys realistically up on the trade block.
