Dion Waiters

How do you guys feel about Dion Waiters?

Re: Dion Waiters

Didn't shoot too well in Summer League.

He does shot that he's fearless going to the basket and doesn't care, which is a good trait.

Has a lot of work to do to prove he's #4.

12.3 PPG
30% from the field
3 rebs
3 assists

30 minutes per game

His numbers weren't particularly amazing but I love his confidence

his game is definitely better suited for the NBA game, i think he is a very gifted slasher,

a lot of what he did didn't show on the stat sheet, he had the opposing defenses scrambling a lot and as a slasher if you can do that the results will come eventually

also surprised me in the picknroll

He came into summer league out of shape. Hopefully he will get his act together.

Re: Dion Waiters

Well, one of those reasons people were giving for your performance was that you were out of shape. And when you were at Syracuse and you were heavy, you weren’t at your best, either. Do you think there’s a correlation there? Dion Waiters: It’s different for the NBA Draft, when you don’t have to do nothing. It was a couple weeks between the draft and summer league. I still wasn’t (in game shape). But now, you see me, there’s a big difference. Syracuse.com

This is obviously a different part of your life. You are now into the real world. You have to do a lot of things for yourself. What has been the biggest challenge about that so far? Dion Waiters: Just having to say ‘no’ to a lot of people. People ask for things that they usually didn’t ask for. You just gotta say ‘no.’ Sometimes you might not want to, but you just can’t help that person in that situation at that time. That’s just basically it – just really watching your money and watching how much you’re spending and things like that. Syracuse.com

Re: Dion Waiters

This year, Cavaliers fans are more concerned with the fact Dion Waiters, the No. 4 overall draft pick, did not start Monday’s preseason opener vs. Montepaschi Siena. He may not start in Tuesday’s preseason game in Canton, either. Instead, the honor went to another newcomer -- free-agent pickup C.J. Miles, a veteran of six NBA seasons (all with Utah). “I just felt C.J. comes in with a little more experience, he’s a guy who’s played in a ton of games. He fits in well with what we’re doing,” Cavs coach Byron Scott said prior to tipoff at Quicken Loans Arena. “It’s the same thing I said about Kyrie last year. Dion has to earn it. Simple as that.” FOXSportsOhio

I just got back from the game. He didn't look good at all. He looks like a chucker, another JR Smith. Who did look good however was Jon Leur. Dude was hitting everything he shot and had some nice blocks as well. Kyrie and Andy looked better than ever and Zeller and Miles looked good also.

Re: Dion Waiters

Akron Beacon Journal:

After two years of wallowing as one of the league’s worst teams, Cavaliers coach Byron Scott is putting everyone on alert. This season, he is expecting more.

That was evident Tuesday when Scott benched — and then ripped — rookie Dion Waiters for not running the right play in a preseason loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Scott typically has been patient before publicly ripping players in the past. He gave J.J. Hickson all of training camp two years ago before blasting him before the start of the regular season for not knowing the playbook. He gave Omri Casspi nearly all of last season before ripping him for the same thing.

Waiters, however, lasted one week before catching Scott’s wrath.
