HOF ? :confusedshrug:

One of the most dynamic players that screwed defenses into the ground as well with their heads because of his hurky jerky style of play.

If he gets to the finals this year , does he retire ? (or play one more year ?)

I struggle with his HOF bid , because of his shortened career being injury prone , yet his full body career shows he is a champion(.)

thoughts ...

He's sure fire first ballot hall of famer for is international and NBA career. It's the basketball hall of fame, not the NBA hall of fame.

i never understood this. they use it for players that were in international tournaments.

but how hard is it really to make a spain/france/greece/argentina basketball club

when theres only a handful of guys in the nba from these countries

its not like everyone who makes the mens usa club gets in the hall of fame automatically first ballot

i think manu will make it some day. but first ballot? common man. you gotta be a superstar for that. he isnt one

is lamar odom a hall of famer? he was a 3rd man on title teams and played international competitions too

who cares

You are wrong.

I'm pretty sure every US player who was the best player on a gold medal team (since the pro-era) is or will be a first ballot HoF-er.

I think that he has one more year left in him. The guy's injuries may help him. As for the HOF...heck yeah. He may not be first ballot HOF but he will be in the HOF 2nd or 3rd round.

You see, the world doesnt spin about USA. International accomplishments matter. Hes 100% first ballot. Some average joe from spain or greece surely wont make it, but superstars do. While in NBA more successful all stars make HOF.

You can look at it this way: almost all successful international NBA players will be HoFs because they've dominated elsewhere, yet if they're only average "stars" in the NBA (Manu is a great example, 15/4/4 isn't much to shout about) then is it fair that they get credited for winning in weaker competitions?

But this isn't just any basketball player, this is Manu ****ing Ginobili, who imo should of been finals MVP in 2005 (Duncan had better numbers, but I remember Manu absolutely dominating).

Then you are forgetting games 3, 4 and 5 (7, 12, 15 points).

Manu will get into the HOF for his NBA contributions and international play (Europe and 04 Olympics - where he was superb).

Re: Manu Ginobili done or one more ?

This is a perfect example why I created the thread....

His numbers are NOT off the charts , he looks like an average player , but his weak side defense , not allowing passes , double teaming players and just being an around exceptional team player on a studded championship multi ring team does count for HOF cred.
But you just have to wonder how the HOF committee would struggle with it all , does the Olympic's and Euro ball put him over the top :confusedshrug:

As mentioned , being so injury prone , might extend his career possibly for another year ,but his banging body style of play has I am sure lessened his miles on his warrior legs.

I for one would like to see him go out on top , whether he just gets to the finals or not , he is such a unique player.
I've never seen anything like him before.

His averages are low only because he played within the Spurs system...He always stepped up in the playoffs and if he were playing on any other team, I'm sure he would average over 20 ppg at least...We all know he can score with the best of them...

I'm sure he would too. Hell, he averaged that on the Spurs and lead them in scoring 4 years ago.

He's got HOF potential. But really, even if he doesn't make it, anybody who watched him understands he's a great, one of a kind, player.

James Harden, who is widely considered a close comparison, in this interview talks about how he watched Manu in high school, is a fan of his, and tried to incorporate Manu's craftiness into his own game.
