Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback

Just in case he becomes healthy enough to play in the next two years, this makes it more unlikely that a team would want him. |

Shocking! Still one bad weed (pun intended) left from what use to be called the Jailblazers. |

He's not coming back so who cares.

Miles isn't a Blazer anymore. This is only relevant because if he signs with some team and plays 10 games, then we still have to pay him. This makes it more unlikely, because before Miles just had to come back and play 10 games in order to screw us over. Now, whatever teams may have considered trying to give him a shot won't even be able to hid his negative reputation because the moment he joins a team he has to miss 10 games. |

I doubt the Celtics would sign him.
Maggette > Miles Posey > Miles Hell, Scalabrine > Miles Anything is better than signing a player who hasn't played a minute in two years. |
Re: Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback
I'll have to disagree with the majority here. If Miles' knee is functional, then I have no doubt someone will sign him and the Blazers will not only have to pay him, he will count against the salary cap. Teams are interested in winning and if a team believes he can contribute he will be signed.

The cruddy thing is if any team wants to screw us and Miles can pass a physical, all they have to do is have him play about 5 minutes a game for 10 games.

Well ... maybe ... I think most, if not all, teams are more interested adding good players. |
Re: Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback
Miles isn't coming back.
For us to take a salary cap hit he would have to sign for a year. Two ten day contracts wouldn't be enough for him to serve his suspension. Given his history and his injury, nobody is going to risk the milliion dollars it would cost them to sign him for a year. |
Re: Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback
Yeah, thats the great thing about the 10 game suspension. Before he could have signed two 10 day contracts as you said. You can't sign more than 2 in a row, so he would have to sign a full year. Unless multiple teams sign him to 10 day contracts.

Re: Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback
I still doubt any team except maybe the Knicks, and I doubt they would either because they already have a ton of wing players, will take a chance on Darius. He hasn't played a game in two years, he's shown that he doesn't care about his rehab, he's a cancer on any team he'll be on and he's all around lazy and only plays for himself.

Agreed that it is highly unlikely. Though not impossible.

Re: Miles Suspended 10 Games for Weed if he ever has a comeback
The thing is that signing Miles to a one year deal is NOT that big of a deal - he's getting over $6 million a year from us for the next two seasons, so he'd probably be willing to sign with a team for the veteran's minimum, just to get his foot back in the door. He's already had tryouts with the Suns and the Celtics and it is rumored that Miami is interested in looking at him as well. This latest slap on the wrist incident (reportedly weed) will certainly turn some teams off, but not all......I'm really bummed about this whole thing - that salary cap space would have been really nice!!!

He's actually getting $9M a year from us. $9M that I'd prefer not to have back on the books. |

I am not completely sure about this, but I believe insurance is covering his guaranteed contract because of the injury. If he does his 10 game stint the Blazers cover his contract and get hit with additional money to the cap. |
