Thank you Nico for gifting us Luka.

Re: BREAKING: Nico fired!
Let this be a lesson to anyone that says that NBA players or NBA front offices know what they're talking about because they're professionals making lots of money and you don't know what you're talking about.
This is obviously an extreme example but the point remains. People are stupid everywhere and we all make mistakes everywhere.
Also please keep in mind that Mark Cuban hired this numbskull. lol. Idiot.
It must suck to find out you're getting fired from Shams tho. lol.

Re: BREAKING: Nico fired!
And the overwhelming spectacular failure and humiliation of the Mavericks is complete.
They may as well move them to Vegas now. There's no coming back from this.

Re: BREAKING: Nico fired!
Well deserved. His legacy will be one of the dumbest trades of all time.

That point has been ridiculous all 58,000 times someone made it and felt smart for coming up with it.
Its like saying when a fighter loses to another that proves fans know fighting better than the loser and his camp of experts who implemented a failing strategy.
In a closed world where someone must fail for others to succeed and both are inevitable within those ranks someone will always be better or worse at the things that cause it.
That says nothing about uninvolved people pretending to be informed from the outside.
Fans who don’t know what it means to hedge and don’t know where the nail is stay acting like they know the game better than a player or coach who played and built game plans for 30 years because of a missed evaluation or someone getting hurt or any of the dozens of things that go right and wrong that know nothings predict without consequence.
It’s just….foolishness.
The idea that I know ball better than Pat Riley when he makes a bad call I predicted wouldn’t work out is just a joke.
And most of the people who act like they do don’t know half of what I do.
And I don’t know shit.
You could make me a GM tomorrow and the team might do well and it might fail as I make calls with a bunch of input and owners giving oks and denials and injury, and luck, and players and coaches personality issues….
A hundred things could make me look informed or like an idiot. But I have no doubt that being involved with it daily, attending a hundred practices, watching workouts, sitting in on meetings, watching game plans be devised, hearing from scouts, talking to coaches and seeing players behavior up close would result in me being more informed than I am from sitting on my phone bullshitting on here, watching some games, and reading articles.
We might lose 60 games year one, draft a Duncan, win 3 rings and I go to the hall of fame or maybe I get that drafts Ben Simmons or a guy who develops into a sex addict who hates my home market because it’s full of Mormons and I lose him early and get fired after 3 years of no improvement and a star hinting he wants to play in LA.
Who knows.
I might appear great off luck. I might be garbage.
But I’d definitely be more qualified than I am from here.

Re: BREAKING: Nico fired!
To be fair, we never got a chance to see Nico's vision (AD + Kyrie + supporting cast). Who knows how it might've looked? We might get to see if they don't blow it up.
Flagg was either a conspiracy or sheer luck.

Re: BREAKING: Nico fired!
Dallas has had a lot of successes for such a terrible organization. While almost everyone thought that trading Doncic for an older and injury-prone player was a bad idea the fact of the matter is that Dallas either let him do it or(I personally believe) wanted to move Doncic and set him up to be the fall guy for fan wrath. If they truly did the deal because Harrison was fully in charge and wanted Davis then once you let him make that trade you may as well give him a chance to flesh out his vision. Don't let him make the bad trade and then do various smaller moves to create his vision. That's dumb. Either you're going to give him a chance to prove everyone wrong or you're not.
But I firmly believe that in some private conversations Doncic ticked off the ownership group, they decided that they didn't want to pay him the 300+ mil supermax (whatever it was) and with the poor start they're using their sacrificial lamb. As if they didn't know coming into this season that Irving still had to recover and Davis is injury-prone. Still, Harrison likely knew what he was signing up for himself. Watch some other team bring him in, everyone will be like, "why did they hire that fool?" Because other owners know that he's willing to walk the plank for them, that's why.

This is a stupid world view. No matter what happened getting Flagg was "luck" if you want to call it that.
Even in the hypothetical world where the league office agreed to give Dallas a #1 overall pick, to say that they specifically guaranteed Cooper Flag himself would require AD and Kyrie Irving faking injuries and losing on purpose when they were a clear playoff team even after the trade.
The truth is the world on a human level is rudderless and not everything is a carefully orchestrated controlled outcome. It's usually anything but.

There are no conspiracies or underhanded dealings. This a very simple case.
The Mavs organisation for a combination of reasons, wanted out of the Luka business. Either because they didnt wanna pay him a supermax, were sick of his conditioning issues and likely thought they'd seen the best of Luka. They thought they could win a chip either last season or this one and justify that decision. What they didnt account for was AD getting hurt (as stupid as that is) and Kyrie getting hurt (as stupid as that is). As someone above said, we never got to see Nico's vision. BUT when you have two injury prone aging players, their health was always going to be a timebomb but they didnt expect it to blow up as soon as it did.
However everything else is fairydust.
Niko wasn't helping the Lakers because he is friends with Pelinka.
The NBA didnt fix the draft to give the Mavs Flagg.
The Mavs owners didnt sabotage their own team to instigate a move to Vegas.
Or any other cockamamie theories out there. This was a dumbass organisation who made a dumbass move and it could not possibly have gone worse for them since it happened. Like Final Destination shit really, the #1 pick aside.

And the Beal situation is actually a pretty good example of it.
A bunch of people on the Internet, who thought they understood big picture implications of a situation they knew nothing about. We’re telling me if the wizard signed Bill to that deal it would be an albatross that destroys the franchise. Me and others were adamant that if they didn’t want him, they would just get out of it for something in return.
what happens? They don’t end up having to pay the contract because they did exactly what we said they could do and flipped him within two weeks of it being leaked that they were going to do it and got a bunch of pic swaps that will still have them Getting paid four years from now.
The sons are playing team and probably won’t make the playoffs. The wizard and sons will likely both be in the lottery. The sun could jump into the top two while the wizards get number nine and the wizards just get to swap with them. And again two years from now. And again after that. One of the years between is complicated because of an existing pick swap with the Nets But one thing is for certain.
They signed him to a giant contract didn’t have to pay any of it and profit from the whole Thing While a bunch of know nothing know it all on the Internet swore it would be the downfall of the entire franchise.
it did literally nothing but good for the wizards. Not figuratively. Literally nothing came out of it, but extra pics and the ability to swap picks with a likely lottery team over the next four or five years.
absolutely zero downside. Pure profit. But prideful idiots on the Internet are so sold on the idea of their own brilliance they take the Factual gain from signing that deal and try to twist it into them being right Because an entirely separate team isn’t good…. When the team that signed the deal profits from that other team, not being good.
They will literally still be able to take the suns pick in the first round In 2030. That’s how long they stand to benefit.
The Bradley Beal deal resulted in no money spent for the wizards on that extension. And advantages in the draft still happening eight years after it was signed.
For years, the rebuilding suns are gonna be sitting at that lottery table, hoping they don’t get a good pick because the camera is just gonna pan to the elated wizards executive who gets to take from them.
But by all means, tell me how smart fans are who read Tweets and assume they really have a grasp on the Situation.
