As Bulls practice ended Monday, veteran Lindsey Hunter stepped up and directed some pointed advice toward Tyrus Thomas in front of all his teammates and coaches. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes leadership that occurs countless times throughout an NBA season. This instance stood out for two reasons. It came on the heels of Thomas, according to team sources, taking exception to coach Vinny Del Negro harping on him for failing to rotate defensively. And it followed Thomas again falling out of the fourth-quarter rotation. Chicago Tribune

Nevertheless, it's clear Thomas continues to struggle with earning the trust of Del Negro. "We were a step slow defensively on our rotations, and that's something we've been working on a lot," Del Negro said generally. Chicago Tribune

Tyrus Thomas declined to address his lack of playing time after the game Sunday but talked generally about his situation during a pregame interview that centered on him not receiving a contract extension by Monday's deadline. Chicago Tribune

What do you think the trade value for Tyrus Thomas a filler and a first round pick would be?

I really don't think Tyrus will be back next season... the only way the Bulls become a top 3 team in the East is to sign a legit PF. not an energy guy like Tyrus. He's just not a starting PF in the NBA.

Well...it depends on how well/poorly the Bulls play this season. If Tyrus puts up decent number while the Bulls head for the lottery I would suspect that would make the trade pretty enticing.

I think the general feeling is that Tyrus can play, it's just that he plays for the wrong team. Thomas doesn't have the skills/size that Bulls need and the tempo/style of the Bulls is all wrong for him. To be fair, I think it is clear that Tyrus is very stubborn and doesn't take direction well from the coaching staff. that part is all on him.

I think a trade that makes terrific sense for Ty and the Bulls is to send him to Golden State for Kelenna Azubuike and Brandon Wright, this move would likely not require a 1st round draft pick.

Nelly doesn't want Wright and he would give the Bulls another PF to fill out the minutes. Kelenna is just being wasted by the Warriors due to the fact that they don't embrace defense and they have too many guards fighting for minutes already. I can't think of a more logical trade that is not rooted in pure fantasy.

Azubuike would be nice for the Bulls since he is both a shooter and a very sound defensive player. He is both young and talented enough to play well next to Derrick for years to come. Azubuike and Hinrich could lockdown the other teams back-court from the bench and he would take the pressure of from Salmons while he is in this current slump.

For now it's only going to happen in my 2K10 association.

From the outside looking it, it often seems to me that Tyrus Thomas is the scapegoat/whipping boy for a lot of the Bulls problems. Especially their defensive laspes. A lot of the poor rotations are not his fault. Most of the defensive breakdowns occur because of poor perimeter D, that puts the smallish Bulls frontline at a great disadvantage. I know you guys are still bummed about LaMarcus Aldridge, but he comes with his own set of b*tchable flaws in his game. Mostly because he is not the postplayer who can anchor your offense and defense that The Bulls need to go to the next level.
