It's about the atmosphere of playing in New York, which is labeled the Mecca of basketball and playing in MSG which is the most famous arena in the world. Nobody goes to Nets games even when they're good. The Garden is always packed though.

He believes that all the hype New York gets is due to bragging New Yorkers that believe that our city is superior to everyone else's. Because the New Yorkers he met said that our Pizza tastes better.

The Gund was dead as well. Then Lebron came. I know because I watched those horrible teams. Lebron can/will make the amoshpere better until they move to brooklyn.

They have Jay-Z. It's clear this matters. LeBron says Brooklyn is his favorite borough and he gets up on stage to rap with Jay-Z to the tune of "Empire State of Mind". He's a Yankee fan. LeBron doesn't do all of this stuff to be funny.
The Nets will have the richest majority IN ALL OF PROFESSIONAL SPORTS in less than 2 months if Brooklyn goes through. Not just the NBA.
On top of all of that, the Nets have tons of young talent. All they need is a leader. With LeBron, you won't be able to double Devin or Brook anymore, not to mention Terrence Williams and CDR and even Yi who is off to a good start. The Nets roster is far more attractive compared to the Knicks or even the Cavaliers if you take LeBron out of the picture.
It all hinges on the Brooklyn move. If it happens, you'd have to be blind to not realize the Nets have a legitimate shot at LeBron James.

Knicks are one of the most overrated franchises in pro sports. Yeah, they play in NYC and in that great building, but their last real success came a long time ago. People put them into that elite franchise category in historical terms. I just can't see LeBron going there. I think staying in his hometown and succeeding with his hometown club are factors that are really important to him. I mean, him going to New York isn't out of the question, but if he's about winning, he'd stay in Cleveland or go elsewhere. A move to New York would have me question his committment towards winning a title. That team is light years away.
