I think the smile is more or less if you're playing against the Nuggets. The reasoning is the only time he does it is when he's hitting everything and given that he is making everything you hate to have something smiling at you while they're doing it. I have no problem with it. It might go back to his old thug persona though, idk.

Melo smiles all the time. I've seen him smile after a technical foul. Take your bullsh*t elsewhere.

there is an acute difference between the smiles. one is clearly out of joy/happiness and the other is out of disdain/spite. the latter is trying to show up the ref and his disagreement with a call.
