Nets had offered Caron Butler big money
Clippers small forward Caron Butler told reporters Sunday that the Nets offered him more money, but he elected to play in L.A. instead.
“More money was (on the table) in New Jersey,” Butler said, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. “There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding Dwight Howard and the situation. I just didn't know what was going to happen, and I couldn't wait. So, I wanted to hit the ground running.”
Butler is good friends with Nets point guard Deron Williams He told reporters he had just gotten out of a meeting with GM Billy King when the Clippers called again. Butler was convinced.
