Re: Would Nate McMillian be a good coach for the Clippers?
Nate needs to coach a young team as he is mainly a teacher of the game. He has bad rotations & a horrid offensive playbook that consists of mainly isolations, limited player movement & spacing. He's an average defensive coach who is overrated because he has great wing defenders & good post defenders the past four years.
If you're a rebuilding team & want to get the most potential out of your young guys, then yes, Nate is your guy. If you're a team looking to take the next step towards a title, then no.
I personally think Nate would be bad for the Clips. He'd limit Paul's ability as he doesn't like his point guards do much more with the ball other than setting up his half court offense & being ready for spot up jumpers. He will also slow down the tempo A LOT which will hurt Griffin & Paul which hurts the entire offense. Clippers don't have the defenders that Portland has, so I think he'd be exposed there. People forget about Seattle's crappy defense when he coached there.
I honestly see him finishing out his contract in Portland then staying out for a year or two until something opens up on a rebuilding team...maybe the Bobcats or something.
