The only way we can get better, is to amnesty amare.

So there's no way we can get better because we can't do that.

If they can't get rid of amare they need to teach him how to play defense and they need everyone to come back healthy.

They should also teach novak how to run around screens.

I doubt Novak will be here next season. No bird rights on him.

He's earned whatever Mid-Level contract he'll get elsewhere on the back of being the best "shooter" in the NBA.

[quote=franchize]I think Amare and Lin for Deron works for both teams. /QUOTE]

Wouldn't we get more than just Deron for Amare and Lin? That might be an equivalent trade in basketball terms but in Lin has massive marketing value.

I think we have to move one of Melo or Amare. They are not good enough individually or together to carry the team to the finals and but they are both too big egos to build a tough team around.

Actually, it's worse because Denver's roster was better than the current Nets. I think Amare and Lin for Deron works for both teams. I also don't think it would hurt us in marketing as much as people think.

Deron has to want to sign with the Knicks & the Nets will have to want that package back. Thats why I'm saying it wouldn't happen on either side.

-Why would Deron sign with the Knicks over re-signing with the Nets or signing in Dallas?

-Why would the Nets trade Deron for an "injury-prone" PF who's due $64 Million and is the laughingstock of the same town?

Just being even keeled on the scenario, but I'd love to see it happen.

The Mavs would seem to need to make a lot of moves to be competitive next season, surely he'd see more potential teaming with Melo than Dirk at this point?

And if the Nets have a choice between Amare and no one...

Actually the Mavs still have a pretty good roster. If they can find themselves a legit center they will be a contender next season. They would have been able to beat OKC with Chandler at center.

Dallas is Deron's hometown and Cuban is a players owner. Why would he want to share the ball with ballhogs and malcontents in Amare and Melo? If Dallas can get Deron with a legit center they will be a contender next year, anything is possible when they have a true superstar(Dirk)

Speaking objectively, if i was a Free Agent, I'd rather be on the Knicks than play in Dallas or the Nets if I'm signing a long term contract.

The Nets have a young roster with good bench players but huge holes in the starting lineup. Furthermore, unless they got a top 3 pick, they won't have a draft pick this year. So basically, they're the Knicks before they got Melo and Chandler. One star (Deron) and cap room. They don't have players of Gallo and Chandler's caliber except Brook Lopez, but he's coming off injuries.

With Dallas, they have Dirk who is a prolific scorer n on of the best players in the league. But he is also 33 years old, already has his ring, and if you have problems with Melo's inconsistent D... He makes Melo look like Darrell Walker.

Either way, I didnt say it's likely. I just said it isn't as farfetched as people are making it out to be. It actually wouldnt be that bad of an idea, especially for Brooklyn/NJ as a last resort. And we all know teams nowadays like to hold out until the last midnight hour to try and get the very best deal possible.

I agree in that the Knicks would have the better pieces as far as playing with Melo, Chandler, Shumpert, & some more additions.

But I can see the Brooklyn Nets "vision" with what they're hoping to do.

I guess it all will fall down on whether or not they can acquire Dwight Howard this summer to entice Deron to stay longterm.

Once again, Im not saying it is likely. Im just saying it isnt as farfetched and ridiculous as people would initially think.

End of the day, we dont have to make a huge splash in free agency or our coaching staff. Lets just spend our money wisely and carefully. Dont go chasing names. Lets just bring in quality basketball players. We can use them at all positions. Get guys that know how to effectively play the game. No more specialist. Our team is full of specialist. Chandler, Jeffries, Novak, Harrelson, Bibby, Douglas etc...all one trick ponys. Its cool to have some specialist but your whole bench cant be full of guys who are one dimensional.

throw the MLE at Nash before Lin

bring in shooters with the minimum

Nash or Lin/Bibby/Douglas
Shumpert/Fields
Melo/Shooter
Amar'e/Jeffries
Chandler/Harrelson

Just get rid of melo and we will see an offense between amare and lin being run smoothly ala phoenix. Too bad we already got rid of the coach. I hope we get sloan or dantoni back. This team really is a contender. 8-1 without melo is a better percentage of woodys 18-6.
