My parents are actually from the Ilongo provinces. Just outside of IloIlo. We have a variation called sutanghon.
I like it better with chicken. They setback of the Shrimp version is having to take the time to peel it

you guys should try a vietnamese dish called banh canh. it comes in a few variations but the best one imho is crab. i never seen it done well in restaurants but my grandma makes it the best. homemade is usually the best anyway for these kinds of dishes anyway
