9-year-old boy among group arrested for Skyway restaurant stickups
Three boys, including a 9-year-old, were arrested after they brandished a paintball gun and robbed two 12-year-old boys in a McDonald's near the Chicago Skyway, according to police and prosecutors.
Two other suspects were still at large Wednesday, three days after the robberies at the McDonald's in the 4000 block of East 106th Street, police said.
The five entered the restaurant around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Four of them, including Lamar C. Lewis, 17, and a 16-year-old boy, entered the bathroom and confronted a 12-year-old boy, police and prosecutors said.
After pulling out what police believe was a paintball gun, Lewis and the others began beating the boy, throwing him to the ground and going through his pockets, police said. They took the boy's cell phone, iPod and money, police said.
As they were leaving the restaurant, the group -- this time including the 9-year-old boy -- stole a cell phone from a second 12-year-old in another part of the restaurant, police said.
