Default sarunas vs. carlisle

i hope you guys read about how sarunas jasikevicius was griping about how former pacers' coach rick carlisle was the reason for his crappy nba career. something about how he was promised an uptempo offense and how he was treated horribly by fellow players.

i tell ya, this guy is a 'tard. he was being hailed as the "best pg from europe" and he couldn't even play defense. guys would blow past him regularly. yeah, he could shoot but he was way, way overhyped. for him to be the god-like player he was supposed to be, he should have been able to fit in with the nba's play style.

also, he wanted an uptemp offense, huh? well, he needs to explain what the problem was in GS. if that's not an uptemp offense, then i don't know what is. he should have stayed in europe and i pretty much saw his demise coming.

eh, my little rant is over.

The guy's literally a god in Europe, he's like Jordan over there. Typical case of an athlete hearing nothing but yes his entire life, then things don't go his way so it can't be that he wasn't good enough, it was the coach! I liked the ending quote from him in the article "If I ever write a book, there's going to be quite a few chapters about Indiana." Never mentions GS, for the same reasons jbot said, you want an uptempo offense, you had it in GS, and you played less there than here.

He seemed to be a very good teammate, always first off the bench during a timeout to support the team but thats about all I remember. He hit some threes...had a few good passes. But other than that he was just an average point guard.

If you perform you play, he has nobody to blame but himself.

I don't like this thread for some reason. Everytime I see it, I'm like "booo".

I've been talking about Sarunas too much lately. There was a lengthy thread in the main forum on this last week, maybe that's the reason for my distatse.

I honestly believe what Sarunas said when he told the media that he thought he could be an effective player in the right system. I think he could, he just never got the chance in Indy or GS.

and in the "right system" you mean that his teammates pick up his man on defense, right?

lol he didnt even get playing time in golden state because they already had so much chemistry with Baron, Monta Ellis, and all those other guys.

i think he would have done well if he played in golden state, but he didn't so we'll never find out.

Wow, its been a while since I last posted. I am actually very surprised to hear Sarunas say that. I was impressed with his play and thought he was a class act. No, he wasn't an All-NBA First Team defender but not many people are. Sarunas was solid on offense and really knew how to run a team/offense. I still have a high regard for him and was pleased to see him carry the flag for Lithuania at the opening Olympic ceremonies.
