Default OT: Ryan Howard

Ryan Howard is 1 nasty M/F'er! Grand Slam shot vs. the NY Mets in the 5th down 2-1, now up 5-2. Man, this Phillies team is really special. This team was getting hammered by the media 2 month ago. Watch for this team if we make the wild card. Sorry for the baseball rambling.

Phillies teasing fans with the wildrace race. Dont be a fool and buy into it.

Ryan Howard is the best 1B in MLB
Chase Utley is great player
A.Rowand is a solid player (thanks Thome)

What else are the Phillies workin with? Not much. Need to get rid of Burrell.

they've improved since the Abreu trade, which isn't a coincidence. Abreu is a heartless, gutless player. Other than the 5 game sweep over the Red Sox, he hasn't really helped make that team better

Blah Pujols. I forget he plays 1B. Guy has bounced from position to position and if the NL had a DH he would be the Big Papi of the NL. Fair enough, I'll take it back. I mean this yr alone tho stat wise Ryan is there. Albert hits for avg no doubt, but its pretty close considering what each player brings or the kind of hitter they are.

46HR's 112RBI's for Ryan Howard. Tied with Papi for HR and leads ML in RBI's.

Think he has a better slugging % than Albert. Altho it may not be by much so forget it. Ehhhh, Ryan Howard has been an MVP caliber player carrying this team. I wouldnt say he is a better player than Pujols (no diss to Ryan) but just for this season and this season alone (i'm aware of what albert has done) Ryan has had just as good if not a better year.

Meanwhile Abreu helps the Yankees.

Abreu just isnt a leader, a fanchise caliber player. He needs to be in a Yankees uniform because they have other stars and he just blends in with his talents, does what he does and thats that. He just wasnt the guy you leaned on. He put up good numbers as a Phillie but they were negated by his attitude and play in OF. Came across as he cared about getting his stats (which he did) so all is well. More to the game than stats. Rowand is the kind of player Phillies fans love. Regardless of his stats he plays the game the way fans

Pujols has made some awesome grabs while playing 1B. He is above average there, I think he would play that position even if there was a DH in place for the National League.

Ryan is there, no doubt. To me, though, I take Pujols over Howard & here is why.

Albert has struck out only 39 times this season, while generating 71 walks. That's almost a walk to strike out ratio of 2/1. Albert puts the ball in play basically every time. Let's take a look at Howards numbers...

He has 67 walks to 148 strikeouts.

Ryan also has a very average .382 OBP

To me, Albert is a better hitter this year. Ryan deserves mention, but he's not better than Pujols this year in my opinion based on those very important stats.

Im a Met fan, but I think Ryan Howard is awesome, he's gonna be around for a long time. I'd still take Pujols because of 3 things, 4 rather.

1. This seasons #'s are slightly misleading.

2. Keep in mind Howards primary venue and the fact that he plays more games.

3. Pujols is better defensively

4. Believe it or not, Pujols is actually just a bit younger then Ryan Howard ...

Anyway, that GS didn't last long, the Mets scored 7 in the 7th, 11-5 Mets

The Phillies also have Hamels and Wife-beater Myers as a very good future (sooner than later) 1-2 punch. They should also have the money to go after a Zito or Schmidt in the offseason now that Abreu is off the books.

Pujols is the best player in the entire league though. Howard is up there and should battle Beltran for 2nd place in the MVP voting but it would be a crime for Pujols not to win that.

Myers, Hamels, Wolf (when healthy). Ehhhh J-Ro is cool but he isnt the hitter I expected. Should be getting alot of hits and hitting over .300

Yeah thats the plan, hopefully they can land one. They will have to overpay.

They got rid of Abreu and got better. Getting rid of Burrell would do the same. Guy is a bum.

Ryan hitting .292 with 47HR's 122RBI's. He's one away from tying Schmidt and 4 away from tying Ralph Kiner for most HR's in thier 2nd season.

Carbine I dunno bruh, Ryan went yard again and has identical numbers as Mike Schmidt when he won MVP (only Ryan has the numbers in less games).
