He's been pretty solid, scoring 12 points each in the first two preseason games. I know it's just preseason, but it's nonetheless impressive considering he played just 19 and 14 minutes in the first two games, respectively. I hope he finally plays this season, and performs like he can. What do you guys feel?

Either he's going to play this season or he's going to get traded. Apparently Van Gundy is out scouting for a PF... But it could also be Keith Bogans that will get traded.
In my opinion I want him to play in Orlando as long as he keeps working on his defense.

Agreed. There are other aspects he can work on too, and I think he (like most everyone else) can improve on those aspects if he puts his mind to it.
The Magic should trade J.J. because they do not know what they have in this great player.
I disagree. Right now, from a contribution standpoint, JJ Redick is probably the Magic's worst player. It just seems like he can't do anything to help the team whatsoever. Offensive efficiency decreases, defensive efficiency decreases, FG% decreases, opponents FG% increases, rebounding %'s decrease. There are plenty of other areas where he doesn't help them, but that's just the main ones.
He's strictly a jumpshooter (92% of his field goals are jumpshots. 92%!). He has no drive game, no defense.. to shorten the list, let's just say outside of his jumpshot, his NBA skill is extremely limited. I really don't even understand how he gets the minutes he does. On a team where they don't shoot the three pointer as much, I don't think he'd be able to log more than 150-200 minutes for the whole season (2-2.5mpg).
I actually think he is a very talented player (other than his mediocre D) who can play for almost any team in the NBA. However he just doesn't seem fully focused on the court, even when he is a starter, and makes very unexpected mistakes such as missing both FTs, which is very unreddicklike.
Last two games on the other hand, coming off the bench he surprisingly played like a machine.
